Personal

Are you Red-y?!

Love.  Love is a four letter word with a strong meaning behind it. But what is love?  According to Webster’s dictionary it says love is “a quality or feeling of strong or constant affection for and dedication to another.”  I just have to add here that I am so blessed that I have found the person my soul loves.  Bryan, I love you.

With that being said, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. How will you be celebrating it this year with your loved one?  Well, if you do not have any ideas and are running out of time, here are some inexpensive date ideas to do with your loved one!

  1. If you are able to both get off work before sunset, go and have a little picnic at sunset.  If you are in the San Diego area, a favorite local spot is Kate Sessions park. Love Kate Sessions because of the views it has to offer overlooking Pacific Beach and all of San Diego.
  2. Turn off electronic devices for the night and just have time with each other.  Today we are so inundated with our phones (myself included) and other electronics such as TVs and computers.  Maybe change it up and put them away for the night.  Light some candles, give each other massages, and whisper into their ear why you love them.  Fun fact: Bryan likes to call these whispers “sweet nothings.”
  3. Play a board game with each other.  Occasionally Bryan and I will turn off the TV and challenge each other in a good battle of Sequence, Qwirkle, or Exploding Kittens.
  4. Cook dinner together.  Try a new recipe and have fun experimenting in the kitchen together. Bryan and I love doing this!  We have not been able to do it as much because of his work schedule, but when we can we definitely try and take advantage of the opportunity!
  5. Go to an arcade (maybe go back to the good ol’ days at Chuck E Cheese’s) and have some friendly competition. And to be honest, that is how Bryan and I hash out a lot of our arguments when we can’t agree on something. How exactly?  We play air hockey and the best of three games wins the game and the argument!
  6. Do something with your significant other that they are passionate about.  For example, Bryan LOVES basketball.  I remember one day I chose to skip the gym with him to go shoot hoops and he could not stop telling me how much it meant to him.
  7. Do a food crawl to different restaurants.  Who says you have to have a whole meal at one place?! Why not grab a small appetizer at a nearby restaurant, then go to another and maybe share another appetizer or plate along with a drink or two.
  8. Paint N’ Sip at home.  Bryan and I did this one year and it was fun to see our creations after! I definitely think I won, but I am biased of course!
  9. Volunteer Together. Why not serve at a charity or organization that you are both passionate about?  Giving back makes the heart grow fonder!
  10. Dance lessons at home.  Bryan and I have been learning how to dance salsa by watching YouTube.  It has actually been really fun and cheap (obvi).

But in the end, no matter what you do with your loved one, I am sure it will always be a great time! And if you aren’t sharing Valentine’s Day with anyone in particular, don’t forget to treat yourself!

xoxo,

P.S. Also, remember to always be safe no matter what you do! 😉
